This site is about the pathway known as the Hayling Leisure Trail, or "Billy Trail", its environs and the locality and related events.

It covers:

  • current usage and sporting activity on or near the trail or associated with it
  • history of the trail, including the famous Hayling Billy Railway
  • the environment, activities and wildlife of the trail and surrounding area, particularly Western Hayling Island and Langstone harbour
news:

Wow!  Improvements to the surface of the Leisure Trail are finally to go ahead.  County Councillor Ted Gale is quoted in the March 2007 Hayling Islander as "There is now a substantial sum of money from the Recreational & Heritage committee to refurbish the surface of the Hayling Billy Trail.  Once the contractor is appointed, the work will start."

"The section from North Hayling Halt car park, south to the entrance from Denhill, will be shut for about 4 weeks from March 19th."

Disappointingly, the improvements turned out to be only for the horse trail surface. What about us cyclists, walkers and runners? Telephone 9247 6411 for more information.
