Parents should note that no arrangements can be made for the supervision of pupils earlier than 8.45am. At that time a teacher will be on duty in the playground. All children should be collected from school by 3.35pm. Any child not collected at the end of the day should report to the office, which is open between 8.30am and 4.30pm daily.

Holiday Forms

If you intend taking your child on holiday during term time, either at home or away, it is necessary to complete a holiday form, obtainable from the School Office. It is permitted for the Headteacher to authorise leave of absence for up to 10 days in the year, but only to accompany parents on an annual holiday. The Headteacher has to consider the reasons for the request, the effect on the continuity of the child's learning and his/her overall attendance, and we urge you only to take your child out of school if it is absolutely necessary.

Absence From School

It is important that you telephone the school on the first day of absence before 9.15am, if not we must telephone you. On your child's return to school please confirm the reason for absence in writing.

If you need to collect your child during the school day for an appointment please send a note in to school with your child that morning. If another adult is coming to collect your child on your behalf, a letter of authorisation must be sent into school.

Communication Between Home and School

The Headteacher's weekly newsletter to parents keeps parents informed of changes to school policy and events in school. Parent information evenings are held for parents of children about to join the school, for parents of Year 6 children to give information about the SATs tests, to give information about Sex and Relationship Education, residential visits and any major school initiatives.

Termly year group letters are issued to parents containing details of any trips planned and the work the children will be covering in each year group in the following term.

Parents and teachers have the opportunity to discuss children's progress at least twice in the school year, during parent evenings in the Autumn term and at the end of the Spring Term. Written reports are given out during the Spring Term, with written report updates sent out at the end of the Summer Term.

Parents who would like to see the Headteacher or Class Teacher should telephone the school office for an appointment - it is not possible for teachers to see parents without an appointment. The Headteacher will deal with more significant difficulties which need to be resolved as soon as possible.
