Runela Junior is a 3 form entry school with approximately 330 children on roll aged between 7 and 11 years. In Victorian times Runela was the only school serving Wheretown. Since then it has been extended twice.

At Runela Junior School we encourage our children to become independent learners and to develop the skills needed to take an increasing responsibility for their own learning. We aim to ensure that they are all enthusiastic, successful learners.

Our academic achievements are high, as are our standards of behaviour and we value the progress of everyone. Whilst benefiting from all the Government's new initiatives, the children continue to enjoy the range of activities that have become traditional at the school. The biennial Summer Production, for example, gives every child in the school the opportunity to take part in a high quality performance whilst at the same time delighting their parents.

We have a wide range of facilities to support the children's learning, including a large computer suite, additional computer stations for each year group, fiction and non-fiction libraries, drama/music studio and an indoor heated swimming pool which the children use regularly throughout the year. The recent construction of a specialist teaching area has enabled us to develop further provision for our more able pupils.

Regular off-site visits, residential trips and the many after school clubs and PTA events all contribute to the children's rich experience at Runela.

Please do contact the school office for further information or to arrange a visit. We look forward to meeting you.
